Iran exports $711 million worth of handcrafts in 10 months

Iran has exported $711 million in handicrafts in the first 10 months of current Iranian calendar year, which began onMarch 20, deputy head of the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization, Yahya Rahmati said, Mehr reported.

Rahmati said the overall export rate in the above mentioned period saw a 4 percent increase of the same period of last year.

In the previous year, Iran overally exported $800 million worth of handicrafts.

The country allocated $500 million out of the National Development Fund to the handicraft industry, the IRNA News Agency reported on October 15.

Deputy Head of Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization, Mohammad-Hasan Salehimaram, also said in August that Iran will pay $1.5 billion in loans to support exporters of handicrafts.

He added hat the loans will be paid with 6 percent interest, according to the IRIB.

The value of exports is anticipated to reach $1.5 billion in the current year, Salehimaram noted.
