The United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed has arrived in Tehran, Fars news agency reported on Nov. 28.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed in the Mehrabad International Airport by Iran's Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The UAE`s foreign minister will meet with other Iranian officials during his one-day visit, which takes place at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart.
According to the report, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues will be discussed during the visit.
The UAE maintains close economic ties with Iran. The country also has a significant Iranian community. However, there are tensions over three islands in the Persian Gulf between two countries. The UAE and Iran both lay claim to the islands of Abu Musa and Greater and Lesser Tunb.
