BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. Iran's food and agricultural exports increased by 20.4 percent in value terms and 12.2 percent in weight terms in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), representative of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran Rouhollah Latifi wrote on social network, Trend reports.

According to Latifi, Iran's food and agricultural exports in the last Iranian year amounted to 8.8 million tons worth about $6.3 billion.

Latifi added that 6.54 million tons of sowing, greenhouse, and horticultural crops were produced out of $3.9 billion worth of exported products, $1.2 billion–856,000 tons of livestock, fish, and dairy products, and about $1.1 billion–1.4 million tons of processed products, canned food, and other finished food products.

Latifi stated that in the last Iranian year, 80% of Iran's food and agricultural products in value terms and 87 percent in weight terms were exported to neighboring countries.

Officials noted that last year Iran exported food and agricultural products worth $1.9 billion to Iraq, $751 million to the UAE, $521 million to Russia, $508 million to Pakistan, and $429 million to Afghanistan.

“Iran also exported $251 million worth of food and agricultural products to Türkiye, $117 million to Turkmenistan, $116 million to Azerbaijan, $102 million to Kazakhstan, $70 million to Qatar, $67 million to Oman, $55 million to Kuwait, $45.5 million to Armenia, $7 million to Bahrain, and $17 million to Saudi Arabia,” he noted.

To note, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, the country's exports of non-oil products in the last Iranian year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.
