Iran's South Pars gas company cuts carbon dioxide emissions into environment

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Iranian South Pars Gas Company's carbon dioxide emissions decreased by 14 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), representative of Iran's South Pars Gas Company Mohammad Masoudinia said, Trend reports.

According to him, preventing the flaring of 411 million cubic meters of flared gas at South Pars Gas Company last year resulted in a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the environment.

Masoudinia noted that the company managed to prevent the emission of about 95,600 tons of sulfur dioxide into the environment last year. Compared to the previous year, sulfur dioxide emissions into the environment decreased by 14 percent.

The official added that this year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), the South Pars Gas Company plans to take measures to reduce emissions into the environment.

To note, the rich gas produced from the South Pars gas field is processed by the South Pars Gas Company. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 12 processing plants.

Furthermore, the South Pars gas company intends to earn 350 million euros per year from the sale of 2 million cubic meters of flared gas per day starting next year (March 21, 2025).
