(Fars News Agency)- Chinese Ambassador to Tehran noted Iran's rich oil and gas reserves and said that his country can render cooperation with Iran in downstream industries, stressing that the two countries' cooperation will prove rewarding even if the international settings grow inconvenient.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark signing of a contract on the exploration and development of Garmsar oil Block by the Chinese Cinopec and the Iranian National Oil Companies, Lio Jen Tang referred to Iran and China's ancient histories and civilizations and said that the two countries' cordial ties have reached a turning point, reports Trend.

He also reminded that the two countries' Presidents during the recent Shanghai conference have stressed enhanced cooperation by Tehran and Beijing in energy grounds.

The Chinese Ambassador to Tehran mentioned that his country has registered a growth rate of 10% during the last decade, which has turned china into the fourth greatest economy of the world.

"I have already told my Iranian friends that if you really intend to grow independent, then you must work hard to achieve economic progress, under such circumstances those countries which are now posing different threats to you won't be able to oppress you and your country," he reiterated.

The diplomat stated that Iran and China's partnership and cooperation have so far been confined to the sphere of energy and further called for an extensive development of cooperation in other areas in a bid to serve the two countries' interests.

The Ambassador pointed out that even though Iran enjoys rich oil and gas reserves, it still imports a wide variety of oil products, adding that China can cooperate with Iran in downstream industries.

To conclude his words, Tang assured that such cooperation would certainly prove to be rewarding even if the international settings turn inconvenience, stressing that Chinese cooperation is always based on mutual confidence and interests.
