(turkishdailynews) - State Minister Ali Babacan comments on the necessity of international capital in Turkey to create job opportunities for a workforce that grows by 1 million people every year, reports Trend.

During his visit to Dubai earlier this week, State Minister Ali Babacan told reporters that those who oppose foreign capital in Turkey are the same ones who want their children to remain unemployed.

Babacan was attending a conference organized by Ata YatСЌrСЌm in Dubai this week titled Bridge between Turkey and the Gulf Capital.

Babacan also said there was opposition to foreign capital in Turkey from time to time. This is extremely dangerous. Somebody saying I don't want international capital' corresponds to them saying, Tomorrow my child and grandchild will be unemployed and I am totally content with it.' Turkey's population increases by 1 million every year. Turkey does not have the capital buildup to provide job opportunities and investments for this population. … Only with international capital can we provide jobs for our increasing population, he said.

Turkey should be wide open to global capital, Babacan noted. In every sector, so long as it's legal and not black money, we should be open to capital from every region. We should establish that confidence. None of our institutions, none of our representatives should make statements discouraging international capital. This is an extremely introverted attitude, one that reflects a lack of information on global developments and total populism. We will not credit those. Our stance is clear.

Reporters reminded Babacan that Deputy Prime Minister AbdСЊllatif Р®ener had once said that the foreign shares in the banking sector should be open to debate; they then asked whether a dispute existed on the issue within the government. Babacan replied that the issue had been discussed by the Cabinet and that a decision had been made.
