IAEA not in position to suspend cooperation with Iran: foreign minister

( IRNA ) - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Tuesday the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) cannot unilaterally suspend its cooperation with Iran under international law, rules and regulations.

Mottaki was addressing reporters at a joint press conference with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro Moros.

"IAEA's cooperation with Iran is based on agreements reached between Iran and this international organization as well as Iran's membership in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)," the Iranian minister said.

"If the agency has questions and ambiguities, it can raise them to be discussed and removed during talks," he added.

Mottaki said fortunately " Iran and the IAEA are determined to continue their cooperation."
