Iran is ready to boost technical and engineering services to Iraq, the country's economy minister Ali Tayebnia said.

Tayebnia said Iran is ready to build roads, power plants, and dams in its neighboring country, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on Feb. 17.

Tayebnia along with a delegation headed by Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, traveled to Iraq on Feb. 16 to attend the Iran-Iraq high joint commission's meeting.

The minister also said that the bilateral trade is currently about $12 billion annually and is projected to be increased to $20 billion.

On Feb. 16 Jahangiri attended a session of the Iran-Iraq high joint commission, where the two countries signed several memoranda of understanding.

The agreements were in transport, tourism, trade, industry, agriculture, exhibitions, and biological fields, as well as a memorandum of understanding in the environmental field.

Iraq was the second biggest importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2014, according to the Iran Customs Administration.

Iran exported $5.9 billion of non-oil goods to Iraq and imported $68.4 million of non-oil goods from the Arab country.
