Tehran Stock Exchange main index drops

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) main index dropped 0.93 percent in the week ended on Sept. 23, compared to its preceding week.

The main index fell by 579 points and stood at 61686, according to the tse.ir website.

The main and the secondary market indices decreased by 493 points and 773 points, respectively, reaching 42864 and 136658, respectively.

Over the five working days of the week, 3022 million shares, worth 6742 billion rials (around $184 million) were transacted, a 105 percent rise compared to the past week.

TSE trades a range of shares, funds and financial instruments, including Sukuk and Islamic funds. It has not received foreign investment for several years because of sanctions over Iran's nuclear program.
