Yekta asaid Iran Khodro is in talks with a Japanese company, which he did not name, adding that Iran Khodro is also going to hold talks with Renault.

"We are in serious talks with an Italian company as well. If things go as planned, soon we will be signing a deal with them, too," he said.

Iran Khodro is Iran's leading car making company. It was one of the first Iranian companies to sign a foreign deal in the wake of the removal of international sanctions on Iran on July 16.
