Iranian Ministry of Industries, Mines and Trade has agreed with issuing authorization for imports of German-made Opel cars.
Under the authorization, the German company's models - Opel Adam and Opel Corsa - will be imported into Iran, Mehr news agency reported.
The report added that Iranian company of "Tavan khodro jey" will supply Opel's products in Iran as the German company's authorized distributor.
The automobile industry is seen as the biggest portion of Iran's non-oil sector. It accounts for nearly 10 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
Iran Khodro and Saipa companies account for more than 90 percent of the total car production in the country.
Iran imported 102,000 cars during last Persian calendar year (ended March 20, 2015,) showing a 31% year-on-year increase.
