Germany's Vice Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel will visit Iran in October, according to Iranian Ambassador to Berlin Ali Majedi.

The visit is going to be a late catch-up for a previously arranged trip that was cancelled due to some health issues Gabriel earlier had, Majedi told ISNA news agency June 10.

He also pointed out that Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will travel to Berlin soon, adding it is hoped that with the removal of banking problems, the Iran-Germany economic ties will boost to the pre-sanctions level.

Majedi further said that during a recent visit by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh to Germany, various cooperation fields were discussed, ranging from car making to railways, petrochemicals, power plants, medical equipment and banking.

Zarif is to travel to Germany on June 15. While there, he will meet with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Germany was one of Iran's biggest trade partners before the sanctions. Last month, a delegation of 150 German officials and business owners attended a joint economic forum with Iranian counterparts in Tehran.
