Iran’s leading car manufacturer increases output

Iranian giant car manufacturer Iran Khodro(IKCO) has produced 185,762 cars during the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-July 20).

The company's car output indicates a slight increase compared to 184,247 cars manufactured during the same period of last year, IRNA news agency reported July 31.

The company manufactured 51,856 cars during the fourth Iranian calendar month (June 20-July 20).

Peugeot (127,588), Samand (30,253), and Tondar (9,516) were on top of the list of the cars produced by Iran Khodro in the 4-month period.

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year-on-year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, meanwhile the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The Islamic Republic manufactured 884,866 sedans and 97,471 commercial vehicles in 2015.

Iran manufactured 555,954 vehicles in the first half of 2015, showing a 13.9-percent growth year-on-year.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
