By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

Iran’s export of petrochemical products has increased by 40 percent over the past four months, according to Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohsen Salehinia.

“Exports in petrochemicals and industry rose by 21.1 percent over the period, 8 percent of which is related to industry while 40.4 percent is related to petrochemicals,” he told a press conference, Trend correspondent reported Aug. 15.

There has also been a jump of 64 percent in minerals exports, he further explained, adding, “The export of industrial goods, excluding gas condensates, rose by 22 percent in the meantime.”

The deputy minister went on to say the export of cars also rose by 3.5 percent over the past four months.

“We expect to have 1.3 million cars exported by the end of this [Iranian fiscal] year,” Salehinia added.

The Iranian fiscal year will end on March 20, 2017.

He also stated that this year 1,304 bankrupt factories have received loans totaling 1.3 trillion rials ($42 million) to help them get back on their feet.

The 1,304 companies are part of 7,500 companies that the government says plans to help revive this year by giving them loans. Iranian industries suffered greatly under sanctions that ended in January after the nuclear deal with world powers.
