Kish Airlines, an Iranian aviation company, has ruled out any possibilities for purchasing Russian made passenger planes.

Mohammadtaqi Jadidi, the head of Kish Airlines, has said that the Tupolev Tu-204 enjoys state of the art tech technology but this aircraft doesn't have a good track record in Iran, Tasnim news agency reported.

Tupolev Tu-204 is suitable for Russia’s weather conditions but not for Iran, he added.

He also rejected rumors on plans for Iran’s purchase of Russian Sukhoi passenger aircraft saying no negotiations have been held in this regard.

While Iran has suffered a notoriously bad air safety record due to sanctions imposed by the US over the past decades, the Russian-built jets were involved in a series of disasters in the Islamic Republic.
