Iran, China sign co-op document in mining research

The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Beijing General Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (BGRIMM) to cooperate in mining research.

Under the five-year deal the two sides will cooperate in manpower training, conducting research projects and implementation of processing and engineering studies, IMIDRO reported Dec. 20.

The Chinese state-run BGRIMM is a leading institute providing innovative technology, diversified products, and process-oriented engineering services in mineral and material industries worldwide.

IMIDRO is Iran’s largest holding in mines and mining industries.

Iran’s annual mining capacity currently stands at 400 million tons as there are about 5,400 operating mines in the country.
