Iran’s car imports surge by 62%

Iran imported over 49,331 sedan cars during the first nine months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Dec. 21, 2016).

Iran’s sedan car imports registered a rise by 62 percent in the period compared to the same period of the preceding year, according to the Iranian Customs Administration.

Iran’s car imports stood at 7,734 in the ninth Iranian calendar month (Nov. 21-Dec. 21, 2016). The country imported $1.295 billion worth of cars during the 9-month period, according to the report.

Imported cars shared only 5 percent of Iran’s total car market in the period.

The Islamic Republic imported 89 percent of total sedan cars from five countries including the UAE, South Korea, Germany, Spain and Turkey.
