The entire gas stations in Iran will be distributing Euro 4 gasoline in three years, according to Masumeh Ebtekar, head of the Department of Environment.

Currently 15 megacities and 10 provincial capitals are receiving Euro 4 gasoline, but the rest of Iran are receiving Euro 2 gasoline, with much environmental damage.

Ebtekar said that in the next Iranian fiscal year (to start March 21) all provincial capitals will be receiving Euro 4 gasoline, the Young Journalists Club reported March 8.

According to Ebtekar, currently 35 million Iranians are using Euro 4 gasoline. Iran’s population is around 90 million.

Iran currently produces 62 ml/d of gasoline, 22 ml/d of it Euro 4. It will add 16 ml/d of gasoline to its output as the Persian Gulf Star Refinery will become operational this spring, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Kazemi said Mar. 6.

The first phase of Persian Gulf Star Refinery is aimed at producing 12 ml/d of Euro 4 standard gasoline.

According to Kazemi, the second phase of Persian Gulf Star Refinery (with the same capacity as the first phase) will become operaational next winter.

He also said 80 percent of Iran’s produced gasoline will be based on Euro 4 standard by March 2018.
