Iran’s car output hits 1.35 mln in 1 year

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20).

The figure indicates a rise by 37 percent as compared to the preceding year, Iran Vehicle Makers Association said.

Iranian car makers produced 124,691 vehicles in the 12th calendar month of last year (Feb. 20-March 20), according to the report.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 1.225 million of the output with a production growth rate of 40.7 percent, the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry’s SHATA news website reported.

Iranian car makers also produced 77,680 pick-ups in last fiscal year, indicating a rise by 2.3 percent year on year.

The country’s bus output increased by 58.8 percent to stand at 1,158 vehicles.

The Iranian car manufacturers also produced 875 minibuses (a 51.6 percent increase) and 15,022 trucks (a 51.5 percent increase) during the 12-month period.

Over 115,900 sedan cars(30.1 percent increase), 6,138 pick-ups (a 26.5 percent fall), 2,324 trucks (a 274 percent increase), 152 buses (a 123.5 percent increase) and 152 minibuses (a 280 percent increase) were produced during the 12th calendar month.

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year-on-year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, while the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
