Iran unveils details on its vehicle output

Over 434,295 cars were produced in Iran during the first four months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-July 21), the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry reported.

The figure indicates a rise by 17.6 percent as compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 410,673 of the output with a production growth rate of 20.9 percent.

Iranian car makers also produced 19,284 pick-ups, 3,304 trucks and 482 buses in the 4-month period.

The country’s minibus and van output also stood at 291 and 261 vehicles.

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20).

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall compared to the preceding year.
