CIS exports to Iran fall by 42%

The Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS) exported over 1.052 million tons of goods, worth $533 million, to Iran during the first five months of the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 20, 2017).

The Islamic Republic’s imports from the CIS registered a fall by 42 percent in terms of value and 32 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding year, according to the latest statistics released by Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI).

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries ranked first among various economic regions from where Iran’s imports came during the 5-month period. Tehran imported some 2.597 million tons of goods, worth $4.802 billion, from the OIC countries during the 5-month period. This is 17 percent less in terms of volume and 13 percent more in terms of value respectively, compared to the same period of last fiscal year (March 20-Aug. 22, 2016).
