Iranian gold complex monthly output surges by 170%

Mouteh Gold Complex in central Iran produced over 301 kilograms of gold ingots in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (started March 20).

The figure indicates a 78-percent growth compared with that of the same period of the preceding year (169 kilograms), Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Dec. 17.

The figure is also 91 percent more compared to the planed output in the 7-month period, which was 158 kilograms.

The complex’s gold ingot output in the seventh Iranian fiscal month (Sept. 22-Oct. 22) accounted to 70 kilograms, registering a huge rise by 169 percent year-on-year.

The complex is located 295 kilometers southwest of Tehran. Chah Khatoun Gold Mine is the main source of Mouteh's gold extraction.

The provinces of East and West Azerbaijan, Tehran, Isfahan and Khorassan Razavi are the top gold production spots in the country.

Iran's National Geology and Mineral Exploration Organization put the proven and probable gold reserves at 320 tons.
