Heavy snow fails to disturb gas supply in Iran

Heavy snowfall and sever cold on Sunday not only failed to disturb domestic gas supply, Iran has also continued to export its natural gas, a senior official with National Iranian Gas Company said.

Saying that the consumption of gas in the residential sector reached 500 million cubic meters on January 28, Saeid Momeny added that the industrial unites and power plants also consumed 200 million cubic meters of gas, state-run IRINN TV reported.

According to the official, the inauguration of the sixth cross country gas pipeline as well as Damghan-Kiasasr pipeline had a key role in the none-stop supply of gas in the country.

Hundreds of schools have been closed and several airports have suspended flights after heavy snowfall across the country.

In the meantime, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh gave assurances that there was no disruption in gas supply across the country but advised consumers to economize.
