Iran introduces plans to create new jobs

Mohammad Baqer Nobakht as the head of Planning and Budget Organization of Iran has disclosed 12 government plans to create new jobs over the next fiscal year (starting March 20).

Under the new plans, the government will invest about 73.4 trillion (about $1.5 billion according to the official currency rate) in 12 projects for creating new jobs, he said.

Nobakht expressed hope that the new plans will create about 300,000 new job opportunities.

Elaborating on plans to create new jobs, he said 260,000 out of the total figure will go to renewing the aged urban structures.

In the meantime, the government has envisaged creating 40,000 job opportunities through launching projects for the construction of 100,000 residential units in the rural areas.

According to the latest report, by Iran’s Statistical Center the unemployment rate over the last summer was 11.7 percent which means 3.156 million individuals were unemployed in the mentioned period.
