Iran carpet center not satisfied with exports level

Despite the growing amount of Iran’s exports of carper, Hamid Kagar, the head of Iran National Carpet Center, has expressed dissatisfaction with the value of the exports of hand-made carpets.

“Although we witnessed a proper rise over the last year which continued into the current year, the figure has failed to satisfy expectations,” the official said at a an event on hand-made carpets on Friday.

He further urged the officials to put in a great deal of effort to boost the industry.

According to the official, the country exported $336 million worth of hand-made carpets over the first ten months of the current fiscal year (starting March 20), indicating a rise of 23 percent year on year.

He also added that the exports of carpet over the last fiscal year amounted to $359 million which grew by 21 percent compared to the preceding year.

According to Hamid Kagar, Iranian carpets are offered in about 80 countries across the world including the US.

Iran’s exports of carpet to the US over the fiscal 2017/18 hit $90 million.
