By Kamyar Eghbalnejad – Trend:

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company, is hopeful to secure new deals in neighboring Iraq.

Sepehr Sepehri, the CEO of the NIDC, has told Trend that the company plans to finalize a deal with the Iraqi side over the first half of the coming fiscal year (starting March 20).

“Nowadays Iraq enjoys great potential for carrying out projects,” he said on the sidelines of the 2nd Iran International Exploration & Production Congress & Exhibition (Iran E&P 2018) in Tehran.

Sepehr Sepehri earlier last week heading a delegation visited the Arab country to weigh the possibility of cooperation in developing its oil and gas fields.

According to Sepehri, NIDC has participated in tenders held by the Italian giant oil company Eni for drilling projects in Iraq, the results of which remain to be announced. Earlier reports suggested that Eni invited NIDC to participate in three tenders on drilling 12, 15 and six oil wells in Iraq.

Sepehri also described cooperation with Oman and Qatar as a priority for NIDC.

NIDC has already taken part in oil and drilling tenders in Oman and is negotiating with foreign companies for drilling projects in the region.

However, Sepehri believes that Iraq has a better condition for cooperation compared to Qatar and Oman.
