Iran’s major state-run steel companies exported over 838,974 tons of steel in the last Iranian calendar month (April 20- May 21).
The export of the nine steel makers including Khouzestan Steel Co., Mobarakeh, Esfahan Steel Co., Hormozgan, South Kaveh Steel Company, Khorasan Steel Co., Azerbaijan, Khouzestan Oxin steel Co. and Iran Steel Alloy was 36 percent more compared to the same month of the preceding year, the Islamic Republic’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said June 12.
Iranian state-run steel companies exported 577,596 tons of steel ingot (bloom, billet, slab) as well as 261,378 tons of steel products (beam, rebar, hot rolled, cold rolled and etc.) in one-month period.
The aforementioned companies exported 1.249 million tons of steel in the first two months of the current fiscal year, started March 20, 2018, registering a 25-percent increase by year-on-year.
The figure included 891,886 tons of steel ingots and 358,032 tons of steel products.
The state-run companies’ iron sponge export also accounted to 30,000 tons in the 2-month period.
Based on a 2025 outlook, Iran’s steel output is to reach 55 million tons, 15 million of which should be exported.
Iran was the world’s 10th biggest producer of steel in the January-March of 2018, with a production of 6.81 million tons, 47 percent more compared to the first quarter of 2017.
