Iran deputy minister: 6.5 mln rural women engaged in agriculture

Currently, 6.5 million out of 10 million rural women working in Iran are engaged in agriculture, Kazem Khavazi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, said at the 2nd Rural and Nomadic Women’s Day Conference and an event organized on the occasion of the October 15 International Rural Women’s Day, IRNA reported.
He noted that in order to achieve the science-driven and sustainable agriculture, there is no other method than focusing on human resources.
"The rural women make up the country’s cultural, public and economic pillars. The rural and nomadic women play valuable role in development of various industries."
The Iranian minister noted that for supporting the rural women, rural enterprises are being established and currently, the number of such enterprises has reached 2,500.
