In the first half of the Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), textile industry has developed by over 20 percent in Iran, Chairman of the country’s Association of Fabrics Wholesalers Amir Ghadimi Nejad said in an interview with Iran’s Young Journalists Club (YJC) news agency.
However, as the prices rose by 40-50 percent, sales in the sphere of textile industry dropped dramatically in Iran, he noted.
He added that the purchasing power of the Iranian population decreased by 20-30 percent. The instability related to foreign currency in the market also affected this industry, he said.
“About 50 percent of raw materials in textile industry are ensured by means of imports,” he said.
