Iranian province to harvest over 31,000 tons of citrus fruits

As much as 31,500 tons of citrus fruits will be harvested in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), according to forecast, Trend reports citing Head of the Horticulture Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Agriculture Jihad Organization Ardeshir Shahraki.

The cultivated area of ​​citrus fruits is 3,450 hectares, he said, Mehr News Agency reported.

He noted that harvesting of citrus fruits in the province starts in September and continues until mid-January.

He added that mainly oranges, tangerines, lemons, sweet lemons, citrons and grapefruits are grown in the province.

The citrus gardens of the province have created jobs for a total of 7,300 people, he said.
