By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:
Sixty-five GE turbines for locomotives have been built in Iran using the potential of local manufacturers and installed in locomotives, Trend reports citing Ebrahim Obaidi, director of Iran’s Locomotive Repair Plant.
He noted that for the reconstruction of existing locomotives in railway transport, the Locomotive Repair Plant uses potential of local manufacturers and equipment for the purpose of reducing the need for foreign supplies and nationalization of equipment, SNN reported.
He added that 65 turbines for locomotives were produced in this direction, installed in locomotives and commissioned.
“Considering that this equipment is manufactured in Iran, about 30 percent of foreign currency was saved in its production, when compared to the similar one of foreign production,” he said.
