Iran exports 37-38 million cubic meters of gas to Iraq daily, Secretary General of the Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Hamid Hosseini said, Trend reports via IRIB Sept. 14.

He said that the daily cost of Iranian gas exported to Iraq is at least $10 million.

Hosseini added that this figure reaches $3.5-$4 billion annually.

“In addition, Iran exports 1,200-1,500 megawatts of electricity to Iraq daily,” he said.

He noted that Iran’s electricity exports to Iraq amount to $600-700 million a year.

“The current problem facing Iran and Iraq is that no agreement has been reached so far on the special mechanism for getting the money for gas and electricity exported to Iraq,” he said.

As a result of the US sanctions against Iran in November 2018, problems emerged regarding Iran’s relations with world banks and getting money for the exported Iranian products.
