Iran to harvest 775,000 tons of potatoes in Ardabil Province

Some 775,000 tons of potatoes will be harvested in Iran's Ardabil Province this year, according to estimates by local agricultural experts, Director of the agricultural department of Ardabil Province Khalil Nikshad told IRNA, Trend reports.
According to him, 180,000 tons of potatoes are intended for consumption in the province, while the rest will be sold to local and foreign markets.
"One-fifth of Iran's potato demand is met through Ardabil," he said.
Noting that potato crop area in the province increased by 10 percent during the current crop year, Nikshad added that 20,700 hectares of potatoes were sowed in plains of Ardabil Province.
Nikshad also said that two offices were established in the regional agriculture department for the export of the province’s agricultural products.
