Iran’s saffron production has reached 500,000 tons from the beginning of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), Iran’s Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said at a meeting with representatives of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Trend reports citing Mehr news agency.
Last Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), saffron production amounted to 350,000 tons, Hojjati noted.
The minister added that Iran’s apple production reached four million tons and citrus fruit - 4.5 million tons.
Noting that the situation with Iran’s export of agricultural products isn’t good, the Iranian minister added that working groups were created in this regard.
