Iran’s electricity exports grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 21

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Since the beginning of this Iranian year (March 21, 2019), Iran’s electricity exports have soared by 120 percent, compared to the same period last year, said Mohammad Hassan Motevalizadeh, the managing director of Iran’s Tavanir company, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Motevalizadeh noted that with the exports of electricity, Iran’s revenues from exports increased by 18 trillion rials (about $428 million).

The managing director added that the increase in electricity exports will be the company’s goal next year (beginning from March 21, 2020).

Talking about the electrification of motorcycles in Iran, Motevalizadeh said that motorcycles overcome the distance of 200 kilometers daily in Tehran, consuming 2,100 liters of gasoline a year. This results in expenses of about 60 million rials per year (about $1,400), the managing director noted.

“With the electrification of motorcycles, their annual electricity consumption will cost about 6 million rials (about $142), and each motorcycle owner will have a profit of 50 million rials (about $1,100),” Motevalizadeh said.

This will reduce fuel consumption by 2,100 liters of gasoline per motorcycle annually and this volume of gasoline can be exported, the director noted.

In addition, the electrification of 300,000 motorcycles in Tehran will result in reduction of about 1.5 million tons of pollutants, Motevalizadeh said.
