Iran's International Trade Center and Rice Export Terminal have been commissioned in Amol county of Iran's northern Mazandaran province, Executive Director of Iran’s International Trade Center and Rice Export Terminal Ismayil Yazdanpanah said.
“Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and other officials attended the commissioning ceremony,” Yazdanpanah added, Trend reports referring to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) company.
“About one trillion rials (about $23.8 million) were spent on the construction of the first phase of the terminal,” the executive director added. “Shopping malls have been built on the territory covering 170,000 square meters. At the first stage, some cargo has already been exported from the Rice Export Terminal.”
“The Persian Gulf countries and the European countries buy Iranian rice,” Yazdanpanah added. “There are very good markets in Mazandaran for exporting rice.”
“The second phase of the center is under construction,” Yazdanpanah said. “After the commissioning of this phase, approximately 700,000 tons of rice produced in Mazandaran province will be sold and exported in this center.”
It is possible to pack, sell and export 300,000 tons of rice per year during the terminal's operations at the first phase.
Iran has produced 2.9 million tons of rice since beginning of this Iranian year (March 21, 2019).
