Iran reveals exports of bitumen to Gulf states, Eastern Asia

TEHRAN, Iran, July 26

Trend:

The spokesman for Iran's Union of Exporters of Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Hamid Hosseini announced the country exporting 300,000 to 400,000 tons bitumen to Persian Gulf states and Eastern Asia countries, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Hosseini said that the export of the only product that did not suffer from the coronavirus outbreak was bitumen.

Hosseini said the bitumen export situation is good, and every amount that is offered via the stock exchange, has buyers.

He also pointed out, referring to the quality of bitumen for export, that the China market was lost for Iran's bitumen exporters for some time, but Iran has regained its positions there.

Hosseini said that Iran's quality of the product has improved thanks to the monitoring of the bitumen quality.

“Previously, low-quality bitumen were imported from Iraq, mixed with Iranian bitumen and exported abroad, under Iran's own brands. Now this has stopped and Iraq's bitumen is exported to Turkey,” he said.

Regarding the amount of exports, he noted that the Customs did not announce the export figures, but whatever the refineries of Bandar Abbas, Tehran and Isfahan offer, is being exported.

"Our target markets are the countries of the Persian Gulf including the UAE, Oman, indirectly to Qatar and other countries such as Bangladesh, Vietnam, Egypt, North Africa, India, recently China,” he added.
