Iran talks data on road construction in last 7 years

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec. 16

Since the beginning of the Rouhani`s government (since June 2013), more than 10,000 kilometers of roads, including freeways, highways, main and rural, and 1829 km of railway lines have been put into operation, Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabie said, Trend reports via IRNA

“The nominal capacity of commercial ports in Iran has increased by 36 percent to 246 million tons,” Rabie said on the sidelines of the cabinet of Ministers meeting.

“With the completion of the country's airport development plans, the capacity of departing and arriving passengers will increase by 70 percent to 70 million passengers by the end of the current government (June 2021),” he said.

Emphasizing the need for cheap and accessible transportation, the government spokesman added that expanding transportation will definitely help the public welfare.

He went on to say that the growth of GDP in the first 6 months of the current Iranian year (started on March 20) was positive.

“Iran's economy came out of recession,” he said. “According to the Central Bank reports, the six-month economic growth was plus 1.3 percent including the oil exports and plus 1.4 percent without oil exports.
