TEHRAN, Iran, June 14
Trend:
Iran started construction of 1,400 megawatt power plant in Hormozgan Province, thanks a loan from Russia, which is a new communication bridge between the two countries to develop power cooperation, said the Managing Director of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company of Iran Mohsen Tarz Talab, Trend reports via ILNA.
"The construction of Sirik Thermal Power Plant started on June 10," Talab said, adding that the project would involve both Russian and Iranian contractors.
"Tehran and Moscow are trying to expand strategic relations and remove obstacles to improve the level of economic and trade cooperation and one the ideas in this direction is to develop bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, especially with joint construction of power plants," he said.
"Iran’s power industry faces a shortage in financial resources due to lack of proper electricity tariff and sanctions, and utilizing different methods of funding is of significant importance to progress some projects," he said.
