Iran sees increase in trade with EAEU

TEHRAN, Iran, July 13

Iran's foreign trade with Eurasian countries is growing and Astara Customs is playing important role in this course, said the Director General of Astara Customs.

"Astara Customs has a significant role in the field of export via land, water and railway borders to provide customs services to businessmen and exporters that export services and commodities to Eurasia," Karim Rasouli told Trend in an interview.

Iran has exported 660,000 tons of commodities valued at $264.5 million to member countries of the Eurasia Economic Union during the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) that indicate a 32 percent increase in exported commodity weight and 64 percent growth of value compared to the same time in last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020).

The Russian Federation imported 305,354 tons of commodity from Iran valued at more than $139 million that considered the most important importer of Iranian commodities in Eurasia, other big importing countries are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus.

Member countries of the Eurasia Economic Union have exported more than 1.8 million tons of commodities to Iran valued at $908 million during the first three months of the current Iranian year that indicated a 15 percent decline of weight and 25 percent increase of value compared to the same time in last Iranian year.

Russia is the biggest exporter among Eurasia Economic Union member countries and it exported 1.8 million tons of commodities to Iran valued at $774 million during spring.

About 60 percent of Iran's export were transported to Eurasian countries via Astara Customs during the first three months of the current Iranian year.
