The Director of General of Gachsaran Agricultural Jihad organization said torrential rains and strong winds in the past few days caused more than $7 billion of damage to the agricultural sector.
Damage has been estimated by experts in crops and horticulture, water and soil resources and infrastructure in the Gachsaran agricultural lands, Leila Attarzadeh announced, Trend reports citing IRNA.
“Of this amount, the damage was $78 million in the agricultural sector,” she said.
Attarzadeh said that due to rain and strong wind, 22 hectares of crops in this city have been damaged by 40 to 100 percent.
She estimated the amount of damage to the buildings and facilities of agricultural and livestock units at $357 million.
Attarzadeh went on to say that a comprehensive report on the amount of damage to the agricultural sector of this city was sent to the Gachsaran Crisis Headquarters.
Annually, more than 159 thousand tons of agricultural and livestock products are produced in Gachsaran city.
