Iran is developing trade and maritime transit with Russia by declaring Astara port and Astrakhan Port as sister ports, said Iran's Council General in Russia's Astrakhan region, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Iran and Russia will increase exchanging goods via these two ports that expand economic ties, Mehdi Akouchian noted.
The declaration ceremony of sisterhood between Iran's Astara port and Astrakhan port in Russia was held online in a ceremony attended by officials from both sides.
The following agreement between the two countries will boost the cargo transit through the International North-South Transportation Corridor and will have an important role in maritime transportation, development of port and maritime communication, and exchanging expertise.
