Iran is seeking to increase local share of digital economy to 15 percent in the next four years, said vice president of Union of Exporters of Iran Telecommunication Industry Sadina Abaei, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Back in Dec. 2021, Iran`s Minister of Information and Communications Technology Isa Zarepour told IRNA that Iran's government is looking to form a Digital Economy Committee with the presence of two vice presidents and four ministers.

“The development of the digital economy can solve the employment problem in the country,” he noted.

He announced that the proposal was submitted to the cabinet of ministers to set up a special Digital Economy Committee.

"The Iranian government has approved the formation of a digital economy working group to coordinate the development of the digital economy," Sadina Abaei said.

Iran looks to increase the share of digital economy from 6 to 15 percent, by using human resources, networks, and available infrastructure.
