Trend:
Iran Combine Manufacturing Company produces 90 percent of combine harvesters in the country, but there is a need to increase production, the Head of Iran's Agricultural Mechanization Development Center Kambiz Abbasi told Trend.
"There are 17,500 combine harvesters for harvesting barley and wheat. Mechanical harvesting of barley and wheat would cover 96 percent of the country's barley and wheat harvesting," he said.
Iran Combine Manufacturing Company supplies an average of 700 to 800 combine harvesters to farmers, and needs to increase production capacity due to rising demands for harvesting grain, he indicated.
Following the government's support of domestic production of cotton harvesters, the company has provided seven combine harvesters to farmers, he explained.
Domestic manufacturers are expected to increase the production of cotton harvesters and reduce imports, Abbasi stressed.
The country needs to import several types of combines for harvesting cotton, although some producers have manufactured models of combine harvesters, there is a need for more vehicles, he noted.
