Iran seeks to prevent import of luxury goods

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.28

Trend:

The Central Bank of Iran and the Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade are seeking to prevent the import of unessential and luxury goods into the country, said the Director-General of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salehabadi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The export revenue should be used in production and be invested in the country's infrastructure and prevent wasting the revenues to import unessential and luxury goods," he said.

"Iran's banking network has started the process of financing the production chain and supporting industrial and production factories by cooperating with the Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade," Salehabadi said.

The financial support of production and industrial units and supplying foreign exchange for importing essential goods will be set based on the country's export revenues.
