Iran's crude steel exports increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4. Iran's crude steel exports increased by 5.7 percent in value terms and 7.4 percent in weight in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024) compared to the same period last year, Trend reports via Iran's Steel Producers Association.

Iran exported 7.1 million tons of crude steel worth $3.43 billion in 11 months. However, in the same period last year, Iran's crude steel exports amounted to 6.61 million tons worth about $3.24 billion.

Iran's steel exports during the first 11 months totaled 3.15 million tons, worth about $1.64 billion. Compared to the same period last year, exports of steel products decreased by 3.3 percent in value terms and increased by 8.8 percent in weight terms.

Meanwhile, Iran's exports of non-oil products amounted to about 125 million tons worth about $44.9 billion in the first 11 months. Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 11.4 percent in weight terms.

To note, Iran's steel production potential is about 40 million tons per year. Iran plans to increase steel production capacity to 55 million tons by 2025.
