BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Iran is interested in using renewable energy sources in the oil refining industry, a representative of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Abdoli said in Trend reports.
According to him, optimization initiatives are currently ongoing
to cut refinery energy usage by 7 million barrels of crude oil per
year. The anticipated cost of these projects is $571 million.
The corporate official noted that three rounds of energy usage
checks were conducted in the country's refineries. In terms of
economic savings, the refineries have saved $460 million through
optimization. These inspections were conducted at a very minimal
cost.
Abdoli added that optimization projects have been implemented in refineries over the past six years. Within these projects, funds worth $500 million have been spent. As a result, the emission of 3.2 million tons of greenhouse gases per year into the environment has been prevented.
Iran's 10 refineries currently process 2,286,000 barrels of crude oil and gas condensate daily.
