Iran's central bank increases funds earmarked for imports of medications and drugs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. The funds allotted by the Central Bank of Iran for importing medicines and medical supplies into the country have increased by 26 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 11, 2024) to the present compared to the same period last year, Trend reports, referring to the Central Bank of Iran.

The Central Bank of Iran allocated $4.3 billion for the import of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies during the mentioned period.

During the same period last year, the Central Bank of Iran allocated $3.4 billion for the import of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

To note, the Central Bank of Iran allocates funds for the import of pharmaceuticals, raw materials, medicines, and consumables based on the orders of the Iranian Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Administration Organization.

Certain government officials order the importation of several important items into Iran. In this regard, the Iranian Central Bank disburses funds.
