BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. The volume of cargo handling at the ports of Bushehr Province, located in southern Iran, increased by 6 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), the director general of ports and maritime administration of Iran's Bushehr province Mohammad Shakibinasab said, Trend reports.
According to Shakibinasab, more than 64.1 million tons of cargo were handled and unloaded at the ports of Iran's Bushehr Province last year.
Shakibinasab added that about 10.9 million tons of non-oil products were handled and unloaded at the province's ports last year. This is 4.8 percent more than a year earlier.
The official stated that 53.2 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products were loaded and unloaded at the province's ports last year. The figure increased by 6.2 percent year-on-year.
He noted that 22.6 million tons of crude oil were exported from the province's ports last year. This figure increased by 14.8 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 19.7 million tons of crude oil were exported from the province's ports last year.
Meanwhile, he added that about 139,000 TEU containers were handled and unloaded in Bushehr province's ports last year.
To note, the ports of Bushehr, Kharg, Genaveh, Dayyer, Asaluyeh, and other ports operate in Iran's Bushehr Province.
