BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. Approximately 1.8 million tons of cargo were handled and unloaded at Imam Khomeini Port of Khuzestan Province, located in southwestern Iran, during 15 days of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 5, 2024), the Deputy Director General of Port and Maritime Administration of Iran's Khuzestan Province Davoud Chegeni said in Trend reports.
According to him, 22 ships were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini Port daily for an average of 15 days.
Chegeni added that 47.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini Port last Iranian year.
The official noted that Imam Khomeini Port occupies a 20 percent share of Iran's maritime trade.
To note, Imam Khomeini Port has the potential to load and unload 60 million tons of oil and non-oil products per year.
